Who Am I?

I've been really looking at myself lately, both personality and appearance wise, and reflecting on how different I am now yet how I am still almost the same. I suppose it's a case of 'same face different person' as I have had so many self realisations recently.

CAUTION, THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET REAL.

I am not the person I, and everyone else, thought I was. I used to be kind of high maintenance. Money obsessed. I went shopping almost every day and bought tons of makeup and clothes and other random rubbish I didn't need. I used to be quite rude and thought I was better than everyone else. But in the last year (maybe less than a year) I have seen so many things change in me. Looks wise, yes. I have lost weight (completely by accident), the curls in my hair sort of dropped out so they are now looser and kind of beachy (which I LOVE), I noticed how blue my eyes were and started using it to my advantage (selfie wise - lol), I got a tiny bit taller which is nice as I've always been short. Important, I stopped wearing a lot of makeup too. This has given me such a confidence boost for some reason and I am now confident enough to say I actually prefer my face with very little or no makeup.

Personality wise, I have seen the most changes. As well as becoming more confident, I have seen other changes in myself like becoming my own person. I no longer follow everything my friends do or do something for attention. I make up my own mind and when my family makes a (wrong) decision on my behalf, I make it known that it is not cool to do that. I stopped caring about money, which I know seems dumb, but I literally could not care less. Most importantly, I now know where I want to be and I am happy within myself and I love myself and I know I'm a nice and kinda funny person and I LOVE it!

People, I URGE you to just think about yourself for a little bit. Take a look on the past year and see how far you have come. Realise your strengths and recognise your weaknesses and try and become a better person! You will feel so much better, I promise. x

Summer Styling

As I mentioned in my previous post - I have well and truly been bitten by the travel bug. I have this sudden urge to pack up and see the world and I have been dreaming of sunshine and beaches for, well, forever really. Below are some summer outfit ideas I came up with recently. Obviously summer dressing is different depending on which country you're in but these are kind of summer inspired! Enjoy!

Wanderlust

So, after studying Travel and Tourism for a solid two years at college, I went for a job in... Fashion. Yep, I studied my ass off to get a good grade (after missing a lot of lectures in my second year) for basically nothing. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely ADORE my internship. Kylie and the gag are all great people and I've met loads of cool people and seen cool things already! But, I must admit I have been hit pretty hard by wanderlust.

It's hard to say exactly why; maybe seeing my good friend Thea working out in Italy on my Instagram triggered it, maybe talking to my aunt who lives in Australia triggered it; maybe it's London's lack of beaches. Or maybe it's just the fact that I finished college so psyched to start travelling and then I never did.

I know, I know. I'm only 19. I have years ahead of me to travel wherever I want! I should save up before I think about anything! But, I have this huge lust to just leave everything behind and jump on a train to Paris and just go from there.

Maybe I want a new start in life? Although things are going pretty well for me at the moment (aside from the fact I have £0 due to working an unpaid job - amazing experience I keep telling myself!) Maybe I'm tired of everyone talking about money all the time? Whatever the reason, I know that I would absolutely love to be wandering around little markets, trying new foods and buying tarnished jewellery in Asia or Europe. I want to visit a ton of beaches and decided which one is best for what. I want to go backpacking in South America. I want to go on a North American road trip. I want to visit my family in Canada, Australia, the USA, etc. I just want to be able to go wherever whenever. And maybe I will. Who knows what tomorrow will hold..?

Style Icon - Rihanna

Even though I do not have the confidence or personality to carry anything like this off, I am obsessed with Rihanna's style. She always looks effortlessly cool and pushes the boundaries a little at a time. She has this amazing way of putting together the most cool and casual outfits that look so bad ass and just all round incredible that every time I see new candid photos of her I consider shopping the look (but we all know nobody is as cool as Rihanna herself). x

Prom Preparations

Dresses - Topshop x/x

It's January which means it's time to start searching for that perfect prom dress! There are so many different types to choose from but personally, I don't go for the big poofy ones. I find them unflattering and also heavy, which is not ideal for dancing all night! I really like these ones from Topshop - I adore the silk overlay and the polka dot print. The two colours available are also classic and perfect for prom! I didn't go to my prom (I was grounded haha) but if I had, I would've searched for something like this! Thoughts? x

3 Style Staples Of 2014

Here are the three style staples that I am carrying through to 2015 that I loved all of last year. Chelsea boots became huge in 2013 and 2014 was no different. I got mine from Boohoo and I love that they go with everything and also look quite smart for a flat boot. They are also super comfortable - LOVE. Next, plaid and tartan skirts. I got mine from New Look in the January sales last year and I still love it now! I don't wear it as much as I'd like to so I'm planning on wearing it a lot more this year! Finally, a good old leather jacket. Of course, these are a staple every year but 2014 saw so many different styles and colours of leather jackets that there were too many to choose from. Classic black is my ultimate favourite but I also really liked the maroon leather that was floating around, and also the baby pink/blue leather jackets were great! x

Welcome to 2015!

Happy New Year, ya'll! I hope you all enjoyed your celebrations all around the world! I want to talk through a few of the 'life adjustments' I am making this year. I'm not calling them resolutions because I always feel gutted when I don't stick to my new years resolutions, so life adjustments seemed like a fitting title.
  • Read more books: Kind of a weird one to start off with but I recently got more into reading as I have quite long train/tube journeys to and from work, and I honestly get so lost in books so I am making it a goal to always have a book on the go. I want to read more autobiographies so if you have any recommendations, please share!
  • Stick to a skincare routine: Again, bit strange. I have so many good skincare products and I usually do have a little morning and evening routine but sometimes I get lazy and miss a few days here and there, which is not good.
  • Blog more often: Yes, I am dedicating more time to my blog and I am going to really promote myself on social media which is something I haven't really done before. I'm going to do giveaways, a lot more outfit posts, some music stuff. Lot's of things happening!
  • Go out more: I'm trying to make more of an effort to go out and do things rather than sit in my room on the internet. There is still so much of London I am yet to see and so many of my internet friends I want to meet up with!
  • Talk about my problems: My star sign is one that keeps things bottled up and I am no different. I am making it my mission to talk to my friends and family when things are bothering me instead of letting it all build up and upset me.
  • Say YES more: I often say no to exciting opportunities or the chance to do something because of a number of reasons. 1) Laziness and 2) confidence issues. I am going to be saying yes to more activities in 2015!
  • Eat healthy: I don't eat a lot of chocolate or sweets, and I rarely eat out. My nan cooks super healthy food but I have become quite lazy with my eating and have been snacking a lot and missing meals in the past few months as I have been so busy and I don't like to eat after 7pm but I don't usually get home from work until about 8:30. My plan is to eat properly and well this year.
There are probably more too, I just can't think of them right now. What are your resolutions/life adjustments, etc? x
